ERNEST - Offshore Oil Roughneck

ERNEST - Offshore Oil Roughneck

"I'd always been proud of my Paw-Paw for being a very hardworking man as a farmer later in his life, and for the fact that (as a product of the Great Depression) he told me he was 100% on his own in the world from the age of 12. I never once saw him lose his temper.  As he married my Cajun widow Maw-Maw when I was 5, I didn't realize how impressive he also was as a young man until I was much older. He worked on offshore oil rigs as a roughneck, one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. It took strength, dedication, and fortitude to be offshore for long periods of time, doing such a physically taxing and dangerous job. Thank you for being such a great example of what a man can and should be. ~ Elizabeth Annette"
