Building Men

Hey Junior CrewMen,

You boys are growing fast and will soon become Men. Have you thought about what kind of man you want to be someday?

If you said you want to be a "good man" when you grow up, you need to be able to answer a few questions:

What does it mean to be good?  That means having Good Character.
It might include being kind to others, being brave & strong, taking care of your family, being a loyal friend, doing the right thing, etc.
What does being a "man" mean nowadays?  Guess what?
It means the same thing it always has!

At Blue Crew World, we think being a "real man" is being a guy who is STRONG on the inside and STRONG on the outside.

INSIDE - having the head knowledge about how to fix things that are broken or to build new things, & even sometimes doing hard or dangerous jobs to serve society, if you're able. It's also having the understanding to work together & lead a team to success!

OUTSIDE - having strong, healthy bodies so you can train, perform, rest correctly, avoid injuries, and stay at your physical best & keep safely working for as long as you possibly can.

Our CrewMen are respected in their jobs and communities as workers, as leaders, and as MEN. To be like them, you have to put in some hard work to learn new, cool skills and practice a lot - we bet you can do it!

Let's break down some serious skills and physical abilities you will need for Blue Crew World careers:

    1. Fixing & Building: There are so many things to learn and each task is cool & different. It's kind of like being an athlete who is good at many different sports, not just one. Our CrewMen have to have a wide variety of skills to repair and create things.
    2. Using Tools and Machines: Blue CrewMen have special tools and machines that help them do their job. They know exactly how to use these tools just like a magician using a magic wand!
    3. Drawing & Puzzle Skills: CrewMen have special maps (blueprints & drawings) and also instruction manuals that show them how to make or do something useful. They need to be good at solving puzzles to understand these drawings and put everything together and solve problems.
    4. Teamwork: Kids can team up with their Crew to solve imaginary problems and face & overcome challenges together. This helps them develop/practice teamwork skills important in the skilled trades, and in life!
    5. Safety Powers: Our safety heroes know all about keeping themselves and others safe while they work to make sure everyone goes home happy & healthy. The more dangerous the job is or the tools are, the more safety rules need to be followed. That's why not everyone is picked to work with dangerous things.
    6. Physical Strength: Blue CrewMen need to be strong and healthy because sometimes their job involves lifting heavy things, using big tools, and making sure everything is sturdy. They need to work with their hands to create amazing stuff. If someone isn't strong enough for the job, they or others could get hurt.  Being physically healthy and strong is so important!
    7. Endurance Power: Blue CrewMen have great endurance, which means they can keep going and going without getting too tired. Sometimes they have to work for a long time to finish a big project. CrewMen need stamina to keep going all day, making sure everything is done right. To have endurance you have to eat healthy for lasting energy!
    8. Super Flexibility: Blue CrewMen need to move and bend well, whether they're fixing something up high or getting into a very small space. Staying limber/flexible is important - can you touch your toes and reach out really far?
    9. Balance Skills:  CrewMen need to have good balance, like when they're working on tall ladders or climbing on roofs. It's sometimes like a balancing act to make sure everything gets done correctly.
    10. Climbing Daredevil: Some Blue CrewMen need to climb to super high places! They use special equipment to reach the top and do their work. When you see very tall structures like a building or a dam - know someone was up there building that!  Wearing safety harnesses is a rule, so nobody falls and gets hurt.
    11. Running Ready: Having fast reaction time is important.  Blue CrewMen might need to move quickly to respond to something urgent, catch something that was dropped, jump to avoid something coming at them, or rush to someone's side. This means they need strong bodies and fast reflexes.

Helping everyone live in a beautiful, safe and happy world is a really cool job. We think real-life Blue CrewMen are heroes making the world a better place with their amazing skills. For all these reasons, they are examples of what it means to be a good Man

If we are going to BUILD MEN in this world, we have to focus on all aspects of the man - head and heart, inside and outside.

What's in your HEAD and what's in your HEART, Junior CrewMen?

    Let's get to work!
